The Kentucky football team has had some exciting wins this season. The game against Georgia was not one of them. The Wildcats fell 63-31 to the ranked Bulldogs.
Being from southern Indiana, I think it can be safe to say that I was never a University of Kentucky basketball fan. I’ve always had a bit of a sour taste in my mouth anytime the Wildcats were brought up. That’s what happens when you live in an area where Indiana University basketball is a religion.
That being said, I have to give UK credit. I’ve been to a lot of different sporting events in my life. College football games, NFL games, the Olympics etc. I think UK basketball ranks right up there with giving the best bang for your buck.
Rupp arena was close to capacity, there were fireworks and streamers shooting from the roof as the players were introduced and the cheerleaders were pulling off impressive moving pyramids with the mascot. All of this for a preseason exhibition match against the University of Pikeville. A contest that the Cats won, easily, 116-64.
It was all rather impressive, and I say that without a hint of sarcasm. Hopefully, my photos will help give you a sense of what it was like.
